The practices of Yoga dates back to more than 5,000 years, this endless well of wisdom provides ways to enjoy a blissful, more fulfilling life. The desire to connect with my inner being led me to the gentle guiding path of yoga. Through asana (physical element of yoga), meditation, and breath work, I continue to turn inward, so I can listen to what is going on at the core of my being. When I make space to be silent and still, I am able to connect with my truth.
Yoga has been the gentle guide that has provided me with the tools to be my true self. To deepen my yoga practice and ensure that I do not fall into chaos on the inside with the daily demands of life, I am committed to sharing yoga practices with authenticity to be of service to others who wish to venture into a deeper search of their true self.
Being a mother of three teenagers, they have taught me a lot about myself, and for that, I am grateful. I have worked in the social care sector for the past sixteen years, which I enjoy. I used to think that was my purpose in life until I ventured into yoga and realized that it was my career path, not my highest calling. I came to the realization that yoga was my highest calling during the pandemic. It enabled me to support myself, my family members, and the people I worked with in the social care sector blissfully regardless of the chaos that we were going through.
Challenges During the Pandemic
The COVID restrictions meant that the children were mainly dependent on my presence. At the time, I was still studying for my master's and working, and I could feel my well-being deteriorating as there was no place to hide. I had doubts about my ability to be a parent to my three children, and my ability to show up effectively for work without showing my fears.
Struggles With Myself
The guilt of not being able to live up to my commitments as a parent or to myself was taking its toll on me on the inside. I was trying to find my way on my career path, wanting to always be there for my friends and family and still be my social self. The hardest part was always saying I was okay even though I felt otherwise on the inside.
Finding Solace in Yoga
The online yoga community was my safe place where I could fully be myself, and they always made space for my emotions when they showed up. For the first time in my life, I gradually began to understand that my relationship with yoga practices was a personal and unique journey.
During certain practices or poses, I would feel so emotional my yoga teachers explained to me the essence of the emotions I was feeling during certain poses or practice as they encouraged me to reflect inward for a deeper understanding of my body, mind, and spirit. Through the physical postures, I learned to explore my body’s limitations, I learned to breathe through uncomfortable practices as I gracefully cultivated my inner flexibility and strength not only in my muscles but in my entire existence.
What I share and teach in yoga is not perfect, nor is the way that I live my life. I know it is important for me to connect to my purpose regularly to be of service to others as we continue to transform. I am always filled with gratitude as I am reminded of the interconnectedness we share with each other during yoga practices. I witness the transformation power of yoga within my being when I get the opportunity to guide others.
After half a decade of practicing Yoga, I fully embraced Yoga and Ayurveda as a natural complement to a life guided by balance completely pre-COVID-19 Pandemic, when I would share free offerings to my close relations and work colleagues, mainly in the Health and Social Care sector. Due to the fewer work-life demands as my children are getting older, I am ready to share the joys of yoga with others as a business on a full-time basis.
My teachings weave together the sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda in the way they were intended to be experienced as the foundation of life.
